Energy efficiency pays off for Pinellas County Schools
ESG Energy Coaches help District earn $260,000 rebate
St. Petersburg, Fla. – ESG Energy Coaches joined Progress Energy Florida to present the Pinellas County School District with a rebate check for more than a quarter of a million dollars for the district’s long-term, energy-efficient investments. The rebate check is mainly for the first two-phases of a three-phase energy-efficiency improvement program that ESG began to implement for the district in 2009.
During the multi-year project, Energy Systems Group worked collaboratively with the schools to ensure the district would obtain the maximum benefit from its energy-efficiency upgrades. The improvements included upgrading the lighting systems to energy-efficient fluorescent fixtures and adding automated lighting controls. The annual energy savings for the Pinellas County Schools from this project are more than $900,000. Another $100,000 in rebates for the final phase of the ESG Lighting project is forecast by Progress Energy to be delivered this year.
